Funeral services for Ira Mae Mitchell of Cordele will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 5, 2019 in the chapel of Rainey Family Funeral Services. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends prior to the service Saturday beginning at 1:00 at the funeral home. Ira, 95,  passed away Tuesday, January 1, 2019 at Phoebe-Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Fields Mitchell. Ira Mae was born in Worth County and was the daughter of the late Marion Jerome Posey and Ruby Griffin Posey. She was a homemaker and an active member of Cordele First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed working in her yards and flowers. She was an excellent cook and best known for her delicious desserts. Most of all she loved her family, especially her grandchildren. Ira Mae is survived by her sons and their wives, Dale and Sherry Mitchell and Steve and Garnie Mitchell, all of Cordele; five grandchildren and their spouses, Mandy and Jason Personette of Roswell, Stephen and Carla Mitchell of Cumming,  Susan and Taylor Upton of Jackson, WY, Matthew and Vickie Hill of Nashville, TN and Allen and Christy Hill of Suwanee; eight great-grandchildren, Collette Personette, Piper Personette, Bowen Mitchell, Judson Hill, Ansley Hill, Abbie Hill, Mattie Hill and Finn Upton. She was also preceded in death by all her siblings, Marion Posey, Jr., Richard Posey, Bill Posey, Harry Posey, Loren Posey, Christine Winchester and Ann Shiver.
