Funeral services for Vera Annette Knott of Cordele will be held Sunday, February 17, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the Cordele First United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the Cedar Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Rainey Family Funeral Services. Annette, 93, passed away Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at her residence. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ferrell D. Knott, a son, Danny Knott and three siblings. Born in Smithville, she was the daughter of the late Clarence Hale and Vera A. Clark Hale and the step-daughter of C.C. Ansley. She was a graduate of Smithville High School and went on to Andrew College in Cuthbert where she graduated in 1944. In 1946 she married Ferrell Dixon Knott and began the life of a military wife for the next 23 years. They served three tours in Europe with their two children and lived in five states before returning to Cordele in 1969 where they began the second half of their journey. Annette worked for Cordele Carnegie Library for five years and was always busy with affairs of the Cordele First United Methodist Church where she worked diligently wherever needed. She served as historian for the Cordele #793 of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. She loved history and documenting it and genealogy. She and her husband enjoyed traveling all over Europe and the United States. In her spare time she enjoyed crafts, reading, crocheting and T.V. Annette is survived by her son and his wife, Ronnie and Joyce Knott of Rock Hill, SC; a daughter-in-law, Tess Knott of Warner Robins; a sister, Mary Ferguson of Florida; grandchildren, and their spouses, Karey and Greg Cowburn, Lucas and Stacy Knott, Gabriel S. Knott, Philip Knott, Dannon Knott, Azyah Knott, Ellen and Conrad Gruber, Richard and Jan Chavez, Trey Knight and Sondra Chavez; and several great-grandchildren. Memorials to Cordele First United Methodist Church, 302 East 12th Avenue, Cordele, GA 31015 would please the family. Arrangements are by Rainey Family Funeral Services.
