CORDELE— Crisp Academy senior Halle Newman, a member of the Wildcat golf team, signed a scholarship at a ceremony in the CA gym on Thursday morning to continue her athletic career at the next level with the College of Coastal Georgia in Brunswick.
Newman has been a crucial part of the CA golf team’s GISA state runner-up finishes over the past three seasons.
Crisp Academy Athletic Director George Kennedy and CA golf Coach Adam Newman, who is also Halle’s father, briefly talked about Halle’s career in golf to this point before turning the floor over to her to sign and say a few words to those in attendance.
After putting pen to paper, Newman expressed gratitude to her coaches, family, and friends in attendance at the event that helped her throughout her academic and golf career so far.
“I want to thank family and friends for always supporting me through the good, bad, and ugly,” she said. “I want to recognize the teachers and staff at Crisp Academy for working with me in my classes and on the golf course to help me be the best that I can be. Most importantly I want to thank God for giving me the ability and opportunity to play golf,” she concluded.
The CA golf team and coaches have high hopes of finally turning those runner-up finishes over the past three seasons into a state title this year.
