CA track team posts strong results at Westfield meet

Crisp Academy had a successful track meet last Wednesday when they traveled to Westfield School in Perry. The CA girls’ track team placed first at the meet with a total of 134 points, while the boys’ team came in second in their standings table with a total of 91 points.

Long Jump

Both long jump participants for CA placed in the event, helping out the teams’ overall scores. Bryanna Brock finished in second with her jump of 12 feet, 9 ¾ inches. For the CA boys, Trey Williams finished in fourth place with a jump of 15 feet, five inches.

Triple Jump

Elizabeth Williams placed first in the girls’ triple jump event with a distance of 25 feet, eight inches. Three CA boys placed in the top five in the triple jump. Noah Mercer jumped 34-1 ¾, resulting in a second place finish. Trey Williams finished in third with a distance of 33-4. Lastly, Ellis Smith placed in fifth with a jump of 31-7 ¼.

High Jump

The only competitor for CA in the high jump was Will Hubbard, who placed sixth with a height of 5 feet, two inches on his best attempt.

Shot Put

Three out of the five CA girls participating in the shot put competition in last Wednesday’s meet placed. Mia Purvis placed second with a throw of 25-10, Libby Manning came in fifth with 23-1, and Erika Mauldin placed in sixth with a distance of 23 feet. Austin Cobb placed sixth in the boys’ event with a throw of 33 feet, two inches. The other CA participants were: Blakelyn Stephens- 19-10, Sara Stephens- 17-8, Griffin Gravitt- 31-8, and Aubrey Brown- 28-7.

Discus

In the discus competition, two CA girls placed to help the team earn their victory. Purvis came in first with a throw of 76 feet, two inches and Mauldin came in sixth with a throw 51-9. Other CA results from discus competition were: Blakelyn Stephens- 49-5, Manning- 47-8, Cody Freeman- 72 feet, Spencer Stubbs- 69-10, and Gravitt- 59-5.

100 Meter run

In the 100 meter run, CA’s Dylan Farmer placed fifth with a time of 12.19 seconds. Other CA runners’ results were: Noah Mercer- 12.65 seconds, Madison Stubbs- 15.06, Maggie Bullington- 16.01, and Sadie Mercer- 16.25.

4 X 100 M

The 400-meter relay team for the CA boys, consisting of Farmer, Zach Atherton, Billy Hardin and Luis Martinez finished in third place in 49.81 seconds.

4 X 400 M

The mile relay team for the boys consisted of Farmer, Atherton, Freeman and Hardin. The team placed in second with a total time of 4 minutes, 23.95 seconds.

200 M

Farmer placed fifth in the boys’ 200-meter competition with a time of 26.19 seconds, while Billy Hardin ran for a time of 26.21 for sixth place. One girl placed for CA: Brock in fourth place at 30.87. Madison Stubbs finished with a time of 32.75, and Bullington came in with a time of 34.83.

400 M

The 400-meter race at last week’s meet saw three CA boys and one runner from the girls’ team compete. Hardin placed in third (58.72 seconds) and Martinez in fourth (58.89); Atherton ran for a time of 61.95 seconds. For the girls, Brock ran for a time of 1 minute, 11 seconds and placed in first.

110/100 M Hurdles

In the 110-meter hurdles, Lane Freeman placed first in the boys’ competition with a time of 23.44 seconds. In the 100-meter hurdles race, the CA girls had two athletes place: Elizabeth Williams came in first with a finish of 19.61 and Emma McCard came in with a second place finish with a time of 21.58.

300 M Hurdles

Freeman (53.65 seconds) and Smith (54.68 seconds) both placed in the 300-meter hurdles race in second and third, respectively. For the girls, Elizabeth Williams placed first in the event with a time of 58.04 and Emma McCard finished second with a time of 60.64.

800 M

Luis Martinez placed in second for the CA boys in the 800-meter run with a time of two minutes, 28 seconds, and Daniel Stull finished in fifth at 2:50. Allie Brown placed first in the girls’ 800 competition with a time of 3:04, and Abigail Brown finished second at 3:16.

1600 M

In the 1600-meter run, Allie Brown placed first at 6 minutes and 19 seconds, and Abigail Brown took second at 7:02.

3200 M

In the two-mile race, both of CA’s runners posted strong results. Allie Brown took first with a time of 13 minutes, 30 seconds, and Reid McCard took third with a time of 14:07.
