Mrs. Ulmer Louise McKinley Allen

Mrs. Ulmer Louise McKinley Allen, age 100, of Dalton, Georgia, and formerly of Cordele, Georgia, passed away March 12, 2019, at Ridgewood Manor Health and Rehabilitation.
Mrs. Allen was married to the late Procter Allen, and is survived by her four children: Elaine Allen Reinika (Doug) of Sedona, Arizona, Marilyn Allen Cannister (Jimmy) of Waycross, Georgia, Procter McKinley Allen (Trisha) of Dalton, Georgia, and Keith Franklin Allen (Kristy)of Moultrie, Georgia; grandchildren Susan Coughenour, Ed Fincher, Leeanna Allen, Matt Allen, Bradley Allen, and Brent Allen; great-grandchildren, Graydon and Claire Coughenour, Eden, Avery, and Harrison Fincher.
Born in Greene County, Georgia on November 13, 1918, Louise was the second of six children of Ulmer O’Neal McKinley and James Lawson McKinley. She attended Georgia Women’s College in Milledgeville, Georgia, where she obtained a degree in education. After teaching for over 26 years in Georgia schools, mostly in Crisp County, Louise retired in 1981. She was inducted into the Alpha Delta Kappa Honor Society in 1967.
While living in Cordele, she was an active member of Penia Baptist Church. She remained active in retirement, devoting many hours as a Hospital Auxiliary “Pink Lady” volunteer at Crisp Regional Hospital, and enjoying gardening, reading, and needlework.
Mrs. Allen relocated to Dalton, Georgia in November 2010. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at The Gardens at Royal Oaks, Ridgewood Manor Health & Rehabilitation, and Hamilton Hospice for the love and care provided to Louise.

The family will receive friends at Rainey Family Funeral Services from 1-2pm, Saturday, March 30th, followed by a private family graveside service. Rainey Family Funeral Services is located at 1415 East 24th Avenue, Cordele, Georgia 31015.
