CA track teams take second place at Terrell meet

Crisp Academy’s track teams traveled to Dawson last Wednesday to compete at a meet at Terrell Academy. The CA girls’ track team placed second at the meet with a total of 69 points, and CA’s boys came up with a second place finish as well with a total of 72 points.

Individual event results for Crisp’s athletes were as follows:

Long Jump 

Crisp Academy had several competitors in the long jump event at last Wednesday’s meet. The only CA girl in the event, Madison Stubbs, placed fourth with a distance of 11 feet, one inch. Will Hubbard took home second place in the boys’ competition with a jump of 17-6 ½. The other Crisp Academy participants were Zach Atherton (15-7) and Ellis Smith (14-7).

Triple Jump 

In girls’ triple jump, Elizabeth Williams placed third with a jump of 27-3 ½. Three CA boys also placed in the top five in the triple jump. Trey WIlliams jumped 36 feet, ¼ inch, which resulted in a second place finish. Noah Mecer finished in third place with a jump of 34-2. Lastly, Ellis Smith placed fourth with a jump of 31-4.

High Jump 

In high jump, Hubbard placed in fourth with a jump of 5 feet, four inches and Mercer placed fifth with a jump of 5-2.

Shot Put 

Three out of the four CA girls participating in the shot put competition in last Wednesday’s meet placed. Mia Purvis took first place with a throw of 26 feet, nine inches, Erika Mauldin placed second with a distance of 26-2 ½, and Libby Manning came in fifth with a distance of 23 feet, ½ inch. Austin Cobb placed third in the boys’ event with a throw of 33-10. The other Crisp participants were: Blakelyn Stephens (20-1), Griffin Gravitt (32-5), Jacob Gravitt (30-3 ½), Aubrey Brown (30 feet) and Ed Jordan (26-3 ½).

Discus 

In the discus competition, two girls and two boys placed for the Wildcats. Purvis came in second in the girls’ competition with a throw of 72 feet, four inches and Mauldin came up with a fourth place finish at 60-4 1/2. For the CA boys’ Spencer Stubbs placed in third at 93-1, and Cody Freeman placed fifth at 78-9 1/2. Other CA participants were: Manning (45-7 ½), Stephens (41-8), Griffin Gravitt (71-8 ½), Jacob Gravitt (71-2) and Jordan (61-3 ½).

100 Meter

In the 100 meter run, Dylan Farmer placed fifth with a time of 12.16 seconds. Other times for CA’s runners in the event were: Mercer- 13.08, Savannah Malone- 14.81, Stubbs- 14.99, and Maggie Bullington- 15.86.

4 X 100 M

The relay team for the CA boys, consisting of Farmer, Atherton, Billy Hardin and Luis Martinez finished with a time of 49.81 seconds. The CA girls had two relay teams compete, one consisting of Malone, Rachel Hopper, Elizabeth Williams, and Ava Pless (58.35 seconds) and the other consisting of Bullington, Emma McCard, Abigail Brown, and Madison Stubbs (62.30).

4 X 400 M

The mile relay team for the CA boys consisted of Farmer, Atherton, Lane Freeman and Hardin. The team placed second with a total time of 4 minutes, 22 seconds. The girls’ team also placed second with a time of 5:04. The runners were: Malone, Hopper, Allie Brown and Pless.

200 M

Two girls placed for CA in the 200-meter run: Hopper in second place with 29.88 seconds, and Madison Stubbs in fifth place at 32.75. Bullington came in with a time of 34.83 seconds. For the CA boys, Farmer placed fifth with a time of 25.81 seconds, while Billy Hardin ran for a time of 26.70 seconds.

400 M

The 400-meter event saw two CA boys and one CA girl compete. Hardin placed second (58.54 seconds) and Martinez in third (58.59). For the girls, Hopper ran for a time of 68.3 seconds and placed first.

110/100 M Hurdles

In the 100-meter hurdles, CA’s Elizabeth Williams placed first with a time of 19.29 seconds. Pless placed third (20.41 seconds) and Emma McCard took fifth (21.68 seconds). In the boys’ race, Atherton came in second at 20.06 seconds and Lane Freeman came in fourth with 22.06.

300 M Hurdles

Atherton (53.64 seconds) and Smith (56.82 seconds) both placed for CA in the boys’ 300-meter hurdles race in first and second, respectively. For the girls, Elizabeth Williams placed second with a time of 56.71 seconds, Pless placed in fourth (58.58) and Emma McCard placed in fifth (62.20).

800 M

Luis Martinez placed first for the CA boys in the 800-meter run with a time of two minutes, 28 seconds, Jacob Odom took third at 2:47, and Daniel Stull finished in fourth with a time of 2:54. Allie Brown placed second for the Wildcats in the girls’ event with a time of 2:28, and Abigail Brown took fourth at 3:11.

1600 M

The CA girls had two runners in the 1600-meter race at last Wednesday’s meet, and both placed. Allie Brown took first (six minutes, 1 second), and Abigail Brown placed in fourth (6:54). Both of CA’s competitors in the boys’ race also placed. Odom came in with a third place finish at 5:51, and Reid McCard finished the race at 6:15.

3200 M

In the two mile race, CA’s Reid McCard came in second with a finishing time of 13 minutes, 59 seconds.
