Two women are currently being held for questioning after a hit-and-run on Bay St. near 6th Ave. left a man injured.
Initial law enforcement radio traffic indicated the injured man, who has not yet been identified, was not breathing. Once first responders arrived on the scene they found that was not the case, although the man was hurt and transported by EMS to Crisp Regional Hospital. Cordele Police Department Captain Andrew Roufs said it appears the man did not sustain life-threatening injuries.
Two women, driving a red Pontiac with Alabama plates, were stopped near the railroad crossing on Pecan St. Officers have taken the women into custody and are questioning them to determine exactly what happened. Roufs said it has not been determined where the women reside, but that the preliminary investigation indicates the two women are acquainted with the injured man.
This is a breaking news story and details are scant at the time. More details will be reported as they are released.
