The Fullington Academy Trojan baseball team had their playoff run come to an end in the semifinals of the GICAA division 1A state playoffs after falling to Central Fellowship Christian Academy in a double-header in Macon on Friday by final scores of 12-2 and 12-5.

CFCA took game one by a final score of 12-2 after five innings of play. Fullington scored their two game-one runs in the top half of the fourth inning on an RBI single from Avery Scarboro that scored Charles Godfrey, followed by an error by the hosts that allowed Brooks Hendrix to score.

The two Trojan runs made the score 5-2 in favor of CFCA at the end of the top of the fourth frame, but the Lancers scored seven runs over their final two innings to end the game with a run-rule 12-2 win.

In game two, Fullington scored the contest’s first run in the bottom of the first inning when Hunter Hughes hit an RBI single that scored Chase Smith.

The Lancers took a 4-1 lead into the bottom of the third inning, but Fullington pulled a run closer in the frame after three straight hits from Hughes, Scarboro, and Trey Miller.

CFCA tacked on three runs in the top half of the fifth for a 7-2 lead, but the Trojans answered with three scores of their own in the bottom half of the frame. Miller and Blake Worley had RBI hits in the inning to push across the runs for Fullington, and they trailed 7-5 going into the sixth inning.

Central Fellowship finished the game off from there with a five run output in the top half of the sixth frame, leaving the final score of game two at 12-5.

Hughes finished game two of the series with three hits, one RBI, and two runs scored. Miller recorded two hits, one RBI, and one run, while Jack McLeod, Scarboro, Chase Bryant, and Worley each finished the game with one base hit.

The second round playoff defeats left the Fullington Trojans with an 8-14 overall record at the end of their 2019 season.
