James Powell Shiver, 76, of Warwick passed away Monday, July 29, 2019 at Crisp Regional Hospital. A service to honor the life he lived will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 3, 2019 at Rocky Mount Baptist Church in Turner County. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the Social Hall of the church.
Jimmy, as he was affectionately known, was born in Warwick and was the son of the late Carl Powell Shiver and Ann Elizabeth Posey Shiver. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Ellen Adams; a granddaughter, Chelsea Adams; and three siblings, Shirley Shiver, Olivia Veach and Jack Shiver.
Jimmy was retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation and attended Rocky Mount Baptist Church. As a farmer, he was a lover of the land and enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing and riding his golf cart. His biggest enjoyment was his family and his great-grandchildren.
Jimmy is survived by his wife of 32 years, Judith Shiver of Warwick; three children, Darius Odom, and Jimmy Odom and his wife, Teresa Odom, all of Warwick and Tonya Whitehead of Cordele; six grandchildren and their spouses, Cameron and Alissa Adams, Corey and Shelby Odom, Courtney and Jared Edwards, Chassidy Odom, Anthony Walker and Sierra Walker; two great-grandchildren, Waylon Edwards and Maddox Odom; and his siblings, Carl and Colleen Shiver of Arabi and Donna and Albert Weaver of Warwick.
