Shirley Ann Wilkes, age 79, of 99 Lamar Road, Vienna, died Sunday, November 24, 2019, at her residence.

Born in Wilcox County, she was the daughter of the late Charlie Bee Barfield and Virgie Lee Massey Barfield.  She worked as a peanut inspector for many years and was also a homemaker and a bookkeeper.  Shirley was the heart of her family and will be greatly missed!

She is survived by her husband, Douglas Wilkes; her daughters, Lisa Newell Cross of Vienna and Lori Geiger (Paul) of Yulee, FL; her son, Randy Wilkes of Cordele; her brother James Ferrell Barfield (Tillie) of Seville; her grandchildren, Falon Wilkes Skinner (Tommy), Catie Cross Lofton (Donte), Garrett Cross, Dezirea Wilkes, Ansley Geiger and Abbey Geiger; her great grandchildren, Caden Lofton and Chloe Lofton.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Lewis Newell, her sisters, Joyce Barfield Glisson and Josie Mae Nations and her daughter, Deborah Kay Wilkes.

Memorial services will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, November 27 in the chapel of Brannen-NeSmith Funeral Home of Vienna.

The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service.
