Early Voting NOW OPEN for CRISP COUNTY SPLOST

SPLOST stands for Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax, for the purpose of thIS SPLOST in Crisp County, voters will be asked to approve the 6-year 1% sales tax on November 7th, 2023. This tax is not a new tax, it is a continuation of the penny sales tax that is already being collected in Crisp County.

History of SPLOST in Crisp County:

  • 1984 – 1990
  • 1991 – 1997
  • 1998 – 2004
  • 2005 – 2011
  • 2012 – 2017
  • 2018 – 2023

Many projects in the community have been funded by SPLOST with no additional cost to the ad valorem taxpayer. These funds have been key to building important facilities to the County and City such as Crisp Regional Hospital, several public service facilities including the Detention Center, Recreation Center and Youth Ball Complex, Pickleball Courts & Park Improvements, ASU Campus, Courthouse, Road Improvements, 911 Center, First Responder equipment and vehicles.

This SPLOST with last from 2024 – 2030 totaling $27,000,000. If SPLOST fails, a large hole will be left in the County’s revenue stream. To compensate for the revenue, an increase in property tax. 60% of sales tax collected in Crisp County is collected from out of town visitors.

City of Cordele Projects $8,575,775

  • City Hall Renovations

Town of Arabi Projects $527,740

  • Public Safety
  • Arabi Roads, Streets & Walking Track
  • Arabi Sewer Project

Early voting is currently going on and will continue from October 16th to November 3rd at 210 S. 7th Street, Room 103 from 8:00 am to 6:00pm. Saturday voting days are October 21 and 28th from 9:00am to 5:00pm.

Deadline to change voter registration is October 10th
