City of Cordele Called Meeting grants Alcohol License

The Cordele City Commission met for a called meeting on Tuesday January 22, 2024 at 9am at the Cordele City Hall Courtroom with Commissioner Vest Beal Shepard, Commissioner Isaac H. Owens, Commissioner Royce Reeves, Sr., Commissioner Wesley Rainey and City attorney, Tommy Coleman in attendance. Chairman Joshua Deriso was absent.

Agenda item number one was to consider Overriding Veto of the Ordinance Establishing the Reduction from Monthly Pay Received by the Chairman and Members of the Commission and Adoption of the Ordinance Establishing the Reduction from Monthly Pay Received by the Chairman and Members of the Commission. This item was properly moved, seconded, and approved unanimously.

Agenda item number two was To consider Overriding Veto of the Ordinance Amending Ordinance No. 2023-02 to Provide for a Regulatory Fee for Food Trucks and Adoption of the Ordinance Amending Ordinance No. 2023-02 to Provide for a Regulatory Fee for Food Trucks. This item was properly moved, seconded, and approved unanimously.

Agenda item number three was to consider Renewal of Alcohol License for Odom Pool Room, 412 W 16th Ave. There was some discussion on this item, and it was agreed that they would adjust the agreement between the City and Odom’s Pool Room to ensure the safety of the public was first. They also requested to get the percentage of amount of alcohol sold to determine the need for security. It was also agreed that they will require a special event permit to put on any larger events as well as hire off duty police officers as security. This item was properly moved, seconded, and approved unanimously.
