Mary Watson Burnette, age 97, of Cordele, Georgia, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2024, at the Crisp Regional Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Seville Church. The family will visit with friends one hour before the service.

Mrs. Burnette was born on October 17, 1926, in Seville, Georgia to the late Julius Jefferson Watson and the late Essie Mitchell Watson. She was preceded in death by her loving

husband: Limuel “Al” Burnette; her children: Jim Burnette and Mary Janis Burnette; her

siblings: Roscoe Watson, Ruby Watson Davis, Inez Watson Hilton Powell, Christine Watson Goodwin, Bessie Watson Clark, Otha Watson, Estelle Watson Bragg, and Ethelle Watson Thornton.

Mrs. Burnette worked as a librarian for the public library during her working years. She was a dedicated member of Seville Baptist Church. Mary engaged in interests and hobbies that included gardening, her flowers, and anything crafty.

Mrs. Mary is survived by her sons: Jeffrey Burnette and his wife Mary Ann of Cookeville, Tennessee and Jerry Burnette and his wife Chris of Fort Myers, Florida; her grandchildren: Andrew, Jessica, Tiffany, Ariel, and Mitchell; her great-grandchildren: Kyra and Talia; and many nieces and nephews.
