Marvin L. Allen, 88, passed away Sunday, June 9, 2024, at Crisp Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, June 14, 2024, in the chapel of Hughes & Wright Funeral Home. The family will receive friends before the service from 12:30 p.m. until the hour of the funeral. Burial will follow in the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery in Dooly County.

Mr. Allen was born in Dooly County, Georgia, to Clarence Allen and Pauline Penney Allen. He is the widower of Shirley Owens Allen. He is also preceded in death by his siblings Sandra Cannon and Norma Jean Bush and his great-granddaughter Brynleigh Grace Allen. He was a retired Civil Servant at the Robins Air Force Base.

Marvin was a Baptist by faith. He enjoyed the outdoors, evidenced by his enjoyment for gardening, fishing, and caring for his lawn. He especially enjoyed cruising the seas and also had a passion for coin collecting. He exhibited his patriotic side by serving his county in the United States Army.

His children surviving him are Melvin Allen and his wife Lori of Cordele, Steve Allen and his wife Tina of Cordele, Denise Ray and her husband Barry of Sylvester, and Karan Johnson and her husband Dale of Summerville, S.C. Also surviving are his siblings Archie Wayne Allen of the Drayton Community, Yvonne Musselwhite of Pensacola, Fla., Chrystelle Enesley of Sarasota, Fla., Janelle Roberts of Warner Robins, and Ruth Rea of Cordele. His grandchildren Aubrey Allen, Oran Allen, Everett Allen, Megan Runels, Hunter Allen, Jeremy Ray, Allen Ray, Brittany Ray, and Alexandra Dickerson also survive. He also has two great-grandchildren that survive, Nicolas Runels and Zayne Runels.
