CORDELE — Funeral services for Lucy Sims Pirkle of Cordele will be held Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel Of Rainey Family Funeral Services with the burial following in Sunnyside Cemetery.  The family will meet with friends prior to the service Wednesday beginning at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Pirkle, 84,  passed away Monday, November 2, 2015 at Crips Regional Nursing and Rehab.  She was born in Vidalia, Toombs County and was the daughter of the late William Wallace and Mary Ettien Bond Sims.  A long-time resident of Perry, she was a school teacher (RET) and attended Peachtree Baptist Church in Byron.  She was a devoted teacher for children in school and churches wherever she was placed.  She committed herself to God as a minister’s wife, always supporting her husband, the late Rev. Condred Pirkle in the many churches that he pastored in Georgia and the Carolinas.  She is survived by siblings, a sister, Mary Faircloth of Tifton and a brother, Luther Sims of Cordele.  She was preceded in death by siblings, Nellie Pannell and William Wallace Sims, Jr.  Arrangements are by Rainey Family Funeral Services.  An online guestbook is available at www.raineyfuneral.com
