CORDELE — Halloween is Saturday…. All the city’s ghosts and goblins will be on the prowl trick-or-treating. Sheriff Billy Hancock advised both trick-or-treaters and parents to remember safety first on Halloween night.
“Halloween is a night to go out and have a good time,” said Hancock. “We at the Crisp County Sheriff’s Office want to make sure our citizens have a safe time while out trick-or-treating Saturday night.”
Hancock offered the following tips for a safe Halloween night.
Trick-or-treat in neighborhoods you know.
Wear bright, reflective costumes.
Parents are encouraged to travel with children. Otherwise trick-or-treaters should travel in groups.
Trick-or-treaters should never approach a house alone. Also they should never approach a house that is dark or does not have their porch light on.
Always look both ways when crossing the road.
Let parents inspect all candy. If any item is suspicious discard it.
“We will have extra patrols out Friday and Saturday night,” said Hancock. “Anyone with concerns needing an immediate response should contact 911.”
Hancock and the CCSO distributed over 6,000 reflective bags for trick-or-treating in area schools.
