Cordele teen injured in morning accident

CORDELE — A Crisp County High School student was seriously injured after losing control of his vehicle in route to school this morning.
At approximately 7:33 AM deputies responded to the scene on Cemetery Road near the Twin Pines area. The driver, 16-year old Joseph Stokes of Cordele, was traveling west on Cemetery Road, when he veered off the road, over-corrected and crossed both lanes before striking a culvert.
The vehicle went airborne, flipping numerous times before coming to rest on its side against two trees. Stokes was ejected from the vehicle. He was transported by Crisp County EMS to Crisp Regional Hospital.
