CORDELE — April is Autism Awareness month. Many of us have a family member or friend that is affected by Autism. To raise awareness there are several events planned in the city throughout the month of April and all citizens and businesses are encouraged to participate.
Citizens and businesses are asked to “Light it up Blue” for Autism the whole month of April by displaying a blue light either in your window or by placing a blue flood light outside that can shine on your building. The blue lights can be purchased at Wells Hardware and are $2.47 for a blue light bulb and $8.49 for a blue flood light. Wells will donate $1.00 to Autism Speaks for each bulb purchased. Everyone is also encouraged to wear blue on Friday, April 1st.
A balloon release will be held at the Community Clubhouse on Friday, April 1st at 12:30pm. Balloons will be provided so everyone is asked to attend.
