CORDELE — If you have shopped around town you may have noticed several collection jars in stores asking the public to help local citizen Willie Griffin who is in need of a kidney transplant.
The 68-year old Cordele resident is currently on dialysis and must raise $10,000 before the surgery can be performed. According to Griffin his granddaughter will be donating a kidney for him.
Once the surgery is complete he will need to travel to Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta twice a week for two months.
On Saturday, May 7 beginning at 10 a.m. a cook out fundraiser will be held to help collect money for this cause. There will be lots of good food to eat from chicken plates, rib plates, chicken sandwiches, desserts and soda. The fundraiser will be held at the corner of 11th Street and Joe Wright Drive.
If you cannot attend the fundraiser, but would like to make a donation you can do so by mailing a check of money order to 2246 Hwy 41 South, Cordele, GA. 31015.
