CORDELE — On April 11, 2016 the City of Cordele was significantly impacted when two water mains were broken, causing many citizens to lose service and the city to lose over one million gallons of water.
The semi-disaster was found to be the result of the negligence of one employee of a Valdosta sprinkler system company. After being advised to contact the city before performing any work, the employee turned off a valve for the system, causing a significant part of the city’s water system to blow. As a result, citizens serviced by the Highway 90 well were affected. This included the area of Frontage Road, Highway 300, the Highland Grange Subdivision and two area schools; Crisp County Primary School and Crisp County High School.
City Attorney Tom Cotton advises that any citizens affected by the incident, that has suffered any type of damage can contact the insurance company of the party responsible for the incident.
The adjuster’s name is Emily Fogle with Federated Mutual Insurance Company. Claims should be submitted with the following number: 339954-1. Fogle may be contacted by phone at 1-800-533-0472 extension 7211273. Claimants can also contact by mail to P.O. Box 486, Owatonna, MN. 55060-0486.
