Firefighters battle late night blaze

CORDELE — At approximately 1:55 a.m. Saturday Cordele Firefighters were dispatched to Bush’s Wholesale Furniture, located at 510 East 9th Avenue in regards to a fire. Upon arrival at the scene the building was completely ablaze with flames and heavy smoke billowing from the roof of the building.
All units with the Cordele Fire Department responded to the fire, which took more than an hour to get under control. Firefighters remain at the scene at this time.
Officers with the Cordele Police Department also responded to assist with traffic control in the area around the fire.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time. The Cordele Dispatch will have more details as they are released.
