Bad weather on the horizon

City and County officials are in meetings this afternoon for a briefing in regards to the approaching tropical storm.
Federal Emergency Management Agency has issued a Flash Flood Watch August 31 at 3:23PM EDT expiring September 3 at 8:00AM EDT by National Weather Service in Peachtree City GA.
Areas Affected: Wilkes; Wilcox; Wheeler; Washington; Warren; Twiggs; Treutlen; Toombs; Telfair; Taliaferro; Putnam; Pulaski; Oglethorpe; Montgomery; Jones; Laurens; Johnson; Wilkinson; Baldwin; Bibb; Bleckley; Crisp; Dooly; Dodge; Emanuel; Glascock; Greene; Hancock; Houston; Jefferson
Tropical Storm Hermine is expected to move across central to South Georgia on Thursday to Friday with 3-5 inches of rainfall. Heavy rain will give potential for flash flooding across the watch area. Winds could reach between 35-45 mph.
