CORDELE — The Cordele Police Department released information on the arrest of a 23 year old man in connection with last Wednesday’s double homicide. Geoffrey L. Jones, Jr. was arrested earlier today on a Felony Murder warrant by members of the United States Marshal Service in West Palm Beach, Florida.
Jones’ arrest comes on the heels of a week-long investigation of the shooting deaths of Shaquaveon M. Felder and Jacrro L. Odom on August 23.
The arrest comes following a joint investigation between the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, The Cordele Police Department, Crisp County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Marshals.
In a press release Cordele Police Chief Rob Rodriguez said,” This was a terrible act of senseless violence; however, this investigation was, and is, a team effort that all the agencies involved played a part in. Without the assistance of the GBI, the Crisp County Sheriff’s Office, and the U.S. Marshal Service, it could have been months before Mr. Jones was apprehended.”
Cordele Police say the investigation is still ongoing.
