Cordele Police Department Reports

•At approximately 5:44 a.m., Cordele Police along with Cordele Fire Department responded to a fire at Cordele Recreational Parlor (Pool Room) located at 105 W 11th Ave. The building had substantial fire damage and the case is still under investigation.
•At approximately 12:43 p.m., Cordele Police pulled over a green SUV at 3rd St. and 16th Ave., driven by a female not wearing a seatbelt. The driver was identified to be Meketa Corbin and did not have her driver’s license on her person. Upon checking Corbin’s license status, dispatch informed police that Corbin had an active warrant for her arrest out of Clayton County Sheriff’s Office for failure to appear and a hold was wanted. Corbin was arrested and transported to Crisp County Jail.
January 7, 2018
•At approximately 2:05 p.m., Cordele Police responded to Taco Bell in reference to a Disturbance. Upon arrival, police made contact with the victim who was hiding in the Taco Bell bathroom from her boyfriend, Christopher Donnan. Taco Bell staff confirmed that Donnan was yelling and cursing near the restrooms of the business and scaring the customers in an attempt to get Johnson to exit the restroom. Further investigation revealed that Donnan wrapped his hands around the victim’s neck and attempted to strangulate her. While on the scene at Taco Bell, Donnan ran away from officers after being told not to leave the scene. A civilian who saw him fleeing from police apprehended Donnan. At that time, Donnan was arrested and transported to Crisp County Jail and charged with the following offences: Aggravated Assault, Disorderly Conduct and Obstruction of an Officer.
•At approximately 11:07 p.m., Cordele Police responded to a call to the 1300 block of South 11th St. in regards to a black Nissan Maxima in front of the Holsey Cobb Village with occupants pointing guns at the apartments. Upon arrival, police found Trooper Forsyth in the parking lot of Sunset Homes at 11th and 24th Ave., with lights on behind a black Nissan Maxima. As Cordele Police pulled in, the driver of the Nissan Maxima, identified as Devonntavis Campbell stepped out of the vehicle with his hands up and a black male running from the scene towards the Village.
Further investigation revealed a loaded Sig Sauer 40 caliber handgun along with two pocket scales, a large number of plastic bags and ecstasy (22 pieces with loose powder for a total of 2.8 grams in a clear plastic bag) all found in the passenger compartment of the vehicle. It was also found that the gun in Campbell’s possession had been reported stolen in Albany. Campbell was arrested and placed in the back of Trooper Forsyth’s vehicle for transport to Crisp County Jail. Campbell is charged with Possession of Schedule 1 Narcotic, Possession of a Firearm During Certain Crimes, Possession of Drug Related Objects and Theft by Receiving Stolen Property.
