Arrests made in May 8 homicide shooting

Franekia West, an 18-year-old female was arrested and charged with Murder and Aggravated Assault in connection with the homicide on May 8.

Hykeem Dawson, a 26-year-old male was arrested and charged with four counts of Aggravated Assault in connection with the May 8 homicide.

Shaquille Jeffery, a 23-year-old male was arrested and charged with four counts of Aggravated Assault in connection with the May 8 homicide.

Cordele Police Department

Three people have been arrested, including a teenager, as part of the investigation into events surrounding the shooting on May 8, which resulted in the death of 30-year-old, Kelvin James Barron of Cordele.

Both Hykeem Dawson, a 26-year-old male and Shaquille Jeffery, a 23-year-old male were arrested and charged with four counts of Aggravated Assault.

Franekia West, an 18-year-old female was arrested and charged with Murder and Aggravated Assault.

The homicide occurred in the area of the 600 block of West 21st Ave. in the early morning hours of Tuesday, May 8. Cordele Police responded to calls of shots fired and during the initial on-scene investigation, officers discovered a residential house had ben struck with what appeared to be bullets. As officers were securing the scene, the E991 center was notified of an individual who had been shot had just arrived at the emergency room in Crisp Regional Hospital. The victim was later pronounced deceased.

Suspects were not at the scene when law enforcement officials arrived.
