Friday, January 18

Crisp Academy splits games with CCA

Crisp Academy’s basketball teams split road games with Citizens Christian Academy on Friday night in Douglas. The Wildcats picked up the win over CCA in their game by a final score of 70-55.

Julian Floyd led CA in scoring in the contest with 15 points from three made three-point shots, a pair of two-point baskets and two free throws. Trey Williams was the next highest scorer for the Wildcats on the night with 14 total points with 10 out of that total coming in the second quarter alone. Griffin Gravitt finished with 13 points on the night for CA, and Spencer Stubbs was also in double figures with 11 total points. Cooper Folds added nine and Baylor Pless scored the other eight Wildcat points.

The Wildcats brought their record to 11-4 on the season with the victory over CCA.

The Lady Wildcats were defeated by CCA earlier on Friday night by a final score of 53-26. The Lady Cats had an overall season record of 3-12 after Friday night’s defeat.

Crisp Academy’s teams play home games tonight against Windsor Academy starting at 6:30, and they are scheduled for home region games this coming Friday night against SGA, also starting at 6:30 p.m.

 

Dooly County’s basketball teams hosted region games against Brookstone on Friday night and the schools split the contests. The Lady Bobcats won 52-21 on the night, while Brookstone defeated the Bobcats 55-52 in the boys’ game.

 

Fullington Academy’s teams hosted Highland Christian Academy for region games in Pinehurst on Friday night. Highland defeated the FA Lady Trojans by a final score of 44-8, and the Trojans also fell to Highland by a score line of 66-46. The Lady Trojans are 4-13 overall on the season entering tonight’s road region game against Grace Christian Academy of Bainbridge. The Trojans will take a 4-11 overall record and a 1-4 region record into tonight’s game against GCA with third place in the GICAA’s region 4-1A standings still up for grabs.

Saturday, January 19

Wilcox County’s teams traveled to play Irwin County for region 2-A games on Saturday night. The Lady Patriots easily handled Irwin in their game, winning by a final score of 52-18. Irwin knocked off Wilcox in the boys’ game later on in the night by a final score of 73-66, giving the Patriots just their first loss of the season in region play.

Final stats for the Patriots in the game were as follows: Keyshawn Howard- 19 points, 10 rebounds, five assists, and one steal; Desmond Tisdol- 13 points, 19 rebounds, two assists, and two blocks; Cameron Patterson- 13 points, three rebounds, and two assists; Jordan Brown- 11 points, six rebounds, two assists and two steals; Demtric Young and Azavion Deans- five points and six rebounds apiece.

Wilcox and Irwin will matchup again on February 1. The Patriots moved to 17-2 overall and 11-1 in region play after the defeat to Irwin on Saturday night.

 

Dooly County completed their weekend basketball action with a sweep of Perry High School on Saturday. The Lady Bobcats won 47-34 over Perry on the night, and the Bobcats won their game 68-60. The Lady Bobcats’ win was their 14th in a row, and it put their record at 15-3 overall and 10-2 in region play. The Bobcat win over Perry brought their record to 12-6 overall with an 8-3 record in region 4-A play.

Dooly is scheduled for road region games against Schley County tonight, and they will play games at Marion County on Friday night.

 

Monday, January 21

The Wilcox County Lady Patriots played in the MLK Hoops Classic in Albany on Monday afternoon and fell to Monroe High School in a close game by a final score of 47-45. The loss put the Lady Patriots at 13-7 overall on the season, with a 9-3 record in region 2-A play.

Wilcox County’s next games will be region contests this Friday night at Atkinson County.
