Letter to Dooly County School System parents and students from Dr. Craig Lockhart

Dear Bobcat Nation,

Dooly County School System will support teaching and learning for all PreK-12 students through a 100% online format for the first nine weeks of the school year.  School for students starts August 5, 2020. This decision is not made lightly.  We must offer education, but the safety of our students, faculty, staff, and families is the top priority.

We will provide meals weekly for students, and each child will receive an electronic device- a Chromebook or laptop- that they will use for instruction.

To provide quality services, we must have up-to-date and accurate physical addresses, mailing addresses, email addresses, and phone numbers so we can best support families.  Please make sure all of this information is updated at your child’s school.  Information about meeting your teachers, whether virtually or in person, will be provided to you soon.

We understand the hardship that virtual instruction causes families, and we will work with you all to provide support as best as possible.  We love our students, and we miss them terribly.

Families, with no Internet service, should click here and complete the online form to notify the Dooly County Board Office. We will attempt to use that information to provide wireless Internet service in your neighborhood at no cost to you.

We will monitor COVID-19 spread and adjust our plans accordingly. Hopefully, we will be back together in school soon.  Please take care, and stay safe.
