The Wilcox County Sheriff’s Office was notified at approximately 9:00 AM on 2/17/17 that Garnett Dewey Elrod (AKA: Buck) was missing from his residence. Elrod suffers from dementia and sometimes walks away from his residence. Elrod lives in a close neighborhood where his neighbors watch after him.  The last known time anyone had seen or spoke to Elrod was approximately 6:00 PM last night.

Upon making contact with Elrod’s family and friends the Sheriff’s Office contacted K-9 tracking handlers from Dooly County Sheriff’s Office, G.S.P. Aviation, D.N.R., EMA, EMS and Rochelle Fire Department. Upon the arrival of GSP Aviation and Dooly K-9 Mr. Elrod was found with the help of the G.S.P. Aviation at approximately 11:15 AM.

Mr. Elrod was transported by Wilcox E.M.S where we hear he is in stable condition.

Sheriff Rodgers would like to thank the Georgia State Patrol, Dooly County Sheriff’s Office, D.N.R., Wilcox County E.M.S. Wilcox E.M.A., Rochelle Fire & Rescue, Wilcox County Sheriff’s Office personnel along with the family and friends of Mr. Elrod’s who were so quick to respond to look for him.
