Dooly County 26  Macon County 8

After starting the season with four consecutive losses, the Dooly County High School football team grabbed their first win of 2019 with a 26-8 win over region 4-A opponents the Macon County Bulldogs on Friday night in Montezuma.

According to the stat sheet, Dooly County quarterback Dy’quan Robinson completed five passes on 10 attempts for a total of 143 yards and three touchdowns, while also running the ball 11 times for 31 yards and one score.

Receiver Shamon Zanders played a big factor in the offensive output for the Bobcats on the night with three receptions for 101 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Eric Ivory caught two passes for 42 yards and pulled in Robinson’s other touchdown throw.

Malik Mcghee finished the game as the leader in rushing yards for Dooly with a total of 49 on eight carries. Zepha Hill finished with six carries for 40 yards, and Alsaquan Adams had seven rushing attempts for 35 yards.

The win put Dooly at 1-4 so far on the season, and it was DCHS interim Head Coach Quinnen Peavy’s first win as the leader of the program.

The Bobcats will try to make it two wins in a row this coming Friday night when they host region rivals the Hawkinsville Red Devils (1-4). Kickoff from Vienna is set for 7:30 p.m.

 

Griffin Christian 46  Fullington Academy 32

The Fullington Academy Trojan football team fell to 1-6 on the season with a 46-32 defeat on the road against the Griffin Christian Academy Crusaders (4-2) on Friday night.

Jack McLeod finished the night with five touchdowns and 284 yards on 52 rushes to lead the Trojan offense in the contest. He also pulled in an interception on defense for Fullington in the game. Chase Smith made contributions for the Trojan defense on the night as well, finishing with five tackles and one sack.

The Trojans will be hosting the Aucilla Christian Warriors (6-0) of Monticello, Florida this coming Friday night, with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m.

Fullington will close out the 2019 regular season with a pair of important region games later this month, with the first being a road game at John Hancock Academy, and the second being a home game versus Georgia Christian School.
